How do I know my staff are BOAS accredited?

  • They will hold an ID card & certificate showing suitable certifications to the types of boiler they operate/manage with a valid from and expiry date.
  • You can contact CEA and we will be happy to confirm their accreditation details and expiry date

Is BOAS a Legal Requirement?

BOAS is not a legal requirement, however it is highly recommended. In BG01 jointly written by the HSE, CEA and SAFed Section 6 points people towards doing BOAS, but if there is something equal to or better than BOAS then you are certainly free to take that option.

If you are ever involved in a boiler related incident of any kind, as long as you can prove that you have done enough to comply with the law and have training records for each person and the equipment they work on then you should have done enough to comply, HSE are not totally prescriptive in what you must do. https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg436.htm
